GRANDMAS BROWN SUGAR PIE

1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
Filling
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
Meringue
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
6 tbsp sugar
Preheat oven to 350. Mix together the first 3 ingredients and pour into the shell. Mix together the remaining 3 and sprinkle evenly over the egg mixture. Bake at least 1 hour or until custard filling is done.
Beat the meringue until stiff peaks form, gradually adding sugar 1 tbsp at a time and beating until sugar is dissolved. Spread over hot pie, sealing edges and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until meringue is golden. Let cool before serving.
