APPLE STREUSEL COFFEE CAKE I

Streusel:
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup chopped apples and chopped pecans
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
3 tbsp melted butter

Cake:
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder and baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup orange juice

Glaze:
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 1/2 tsp orange juice
In a medium bowl, combine streusel ingredients. Blend together well. In another medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix well. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar with a hand held electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. With mixer at low speed, beat flour mixture into creamed mixture alternately with orange juice. Spoon half of the batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Sprinkle half of the streusel mixture over batter. Spoon remaining batter over streusel. Draw a butter knife or narrow spatula gently through batter to swirl a bit. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
Top with remaining streusel then return to the oven to bake 30 to 35 minutes longer, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Transfer cake to a wire rack to cool completely. Turn cake out of pan. Combine confectioners sugar and orange juice. Mix well, adding more orange juice or confectioners sugar if necessary for consistency. Drizzle glaze over cake.
