CHOCOLATE NUT SQUARES

3/4 cup butter, divided
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
2 tbsp heavy cream
1 3/4 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
1 cup coconut
4 oz coarsely chopped semi-sweet chocolate chips

Beat 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup sugar until creamy. Blend in flour and press on bottom of a square baking pan. Bake at 350 for 17 minutes.

Heat remaining sugar, butter and cream in a saucepan stirring until blended. Stir in nuts; set aside.

Sprinkle coconut and chococlate over crust. Top with pecan mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden. Cool and cut into squares.
