HAM STEAKS WITH IRISH WHISKEY SAUCE
Category: Ham
4 ham steaks, about 1 to 1 1/2 inch thickness
2 tsp onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp Irish whiskey
1 tbsp flour
1 tbsp butter, melted
3/4 cup water or chicken stock
Salt and pepper, to taste
Brush steaks with melted butter. Slice fat to prevent curling and grill 7-8 minutes on each side.
Sauce: Saute onions in remaining butter until cooked. Stir in flour. Gradually whisk in water and sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer gently for about 2 minutes. If the sauce seems to thick, add more water. Add whiskey and seasong to taste.
During the last 2-4 minute of grilling, brush ham steaks with sauce and finish cooking. Place steaks on a serving platter and pour the remaining sauce over the ham.
