COUNTRY CUPBOARD SOUP

1/2 lb boneless pork loin or 2 boneless pork chops, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 tsp oil
1 cup thinly sliced carrots and potatoes
1 envelop dry onion soup mix
2 tbsp sugar
Pepper, to taste
4 cups water
1 (28 oz) can tomatoes, crushed
1/4 tsp crushed oregano leaves
Dash red pepper sauce

Heat oil in a Dutch oven and brown meat, stirring occasionally. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook gently for 30 minutes. NOTE: Good served with cornbread. Serves 16
