LEMON CHEESE BARS

Category: Bars

Crust:
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 oz cream cheese, softened

Lemon Cheese Filling:
6 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp grated lemon peel
2 tbsp lemon juice

Golden Nut Topping:
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts

Combine all ingredients for crust. Blend until particles are fine. Press in well-greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes, until light brown.

Combine all ingredients for Filling. Blend well. Pour over partially baked crust. Combine all ingredients for Topping except nuts and blend well. Stir in 3/4 cup nuts. Spoon Topping over Filling and sprinkle with 1/4 cup nuts. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 36.
