*FIRE STATION CHILI *

2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 lbs ground beef
2 cans (16 oz each) red kidney beans, drained
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp hot pepper sauce
1/3 cup chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin]
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper

In a soup pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat and saute the onion and garlic for 5 minutes, or until the onion is tender. Add the ground beef and brown for 8 to 10 minutes, or until no pink remains; drain off the excess liquid. Add the remaining; mix well. Reduce the heat to low; cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves 8-10
