Shelly's Recipe

GERMAN HAMBURGER

1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
3/4 cup soft bread crumbs, (1 slice bread)
1 cup chopped onion
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp parsley
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
1/2 tsp salt and dried basil, crushed
1/4 tsp pepper
1/3 cup flour
3 tbsp butter

In a large mixing bowl, combine first 3 ingredients; set aside. IN a skillet, cook onion in butter until tender, but not brown. Add to meat mixture along with parsley. Process mixture in a food processor, in batches and return to mixing bowl. Add next 5 ingredients; mix well. Shape into 9 (1/2 inch) patties and coat with flour.

In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter and cook 3-4 patties, uncovered, over medium low heat, 12-15 minutes or until brown and no longer pink in center, turn once. Repeat with remaining butter and patties. Serves 9
