CHEESEBURGE MEATLOAF

1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 can condensed tomato soup
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
1 loaf French bread
1 tbsp butter, softened
8 oz processed American cheese or Mexican cheese, sliced

In a saucepan, cook beef and onion until meat is not longer pink; drain. Add soup and seasonings. Simmer 5-10 minutes.

Meanwhile, slice the top third of the bread. Hollow out bottom half of loaf, leaving a 3/4 inch shell (discard removed bread or save of another use.) Spread butter on cut side of bread. Put loaf on a baking sheet and broil until browned. Spoon beef mixture into a shell; arrange cheese slices on top. Broil until cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes. Replace bread to and cut into slices. Serves 6-8
