STICKY-SLOPPY BARBECUE CHICKEN

3-4 lb chicken pieces
1/2 cup dry sherry
1 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup lemon juice
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 bay leaves

BBQ Sauce
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup honey
3 tbsp molasses
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne and black pepper
2 tbsp white vinegar

Put chicken in a resealable bag. Marinate 2-4 hours. Then drain and reserve marinade.
For bbq sauce: combine marinade and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered 30 minutes or until reduced to 2 cups.

Grill by arranging medium hot coals around a drip pan. Place chicken bone side down on rack over drip pan, cover and grill 50-60 minutes. Brush with sauce during the last 15 minutes of grilling. To serves, reheat remaining sauce until bubbly. Pass with chicken.
