CINNAMON SQUARES

1 cup butter and sugar
1 egg, separated
2 cups flour, sifted
1 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups nuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 325. Grease and flour a jelly-roll pan. Cream butter and sugar. Add the egg yolk and sifted dry ingredients. Press the batter into the prepared pan. Beat egg white until foamy and spread it over the batter. Press on nuts and bake for 30 minutes. Cut into squares.
