BRAISED MUSHROOMS

1 1/2 lbs large mushrooms, with stems
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp minced garlic
1/4 cup red wine
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/3 cup finely chopped mixed fresh herbs: parsley, chives, tarragon, and thyme (or use all parsley)

Rinse mushrooms under cool water. Cut large mushrooms in half. Heat butter in a heavy saute pan. Add mushrooms and cook about 5 minutes. Add garlic, red wine, Worcestershire, and soy sauce. Cover and bake for 30 minutes at 350. Remove from oven and add salt, pepper and herbs. Serve hot or cold as an appetizer or as a side dish. Serves 8
