1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp butter
1 cup chopped nuts

In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Add 1/2 the flour, brown sugar, eggs, 2 tsp vanilla and baking soda. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in oats.

In a medium saucepan, combine chocolate chips, milk and butter. Cook over low heat until chocolate melts, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts and remaining vanilla.

Press 2/3rds of the oats mixture into the bottom of an ungreased jelly-roll pan. Spread chocolate mixture over crust. Using your fingers, dot reserved oat mixture over chocolate layer. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until top is lightly brown. Chocolate mixture will still look moist. Cool on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
