SOUTHWEST TAMALE PIE

1 lb ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 cup chopped celery
2 tbsp bacon drippings
1 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt and oregano
1/8 tsp pepper
1 (16 oz) can green beans, drained
2 cups diced tomatoes
1 (2.25 oz) can sliced black olives
3/4 cup cornmeal
1 cups water

In a skillet, brown been and vegetables in bacon drippings. Season with spices and simmer for 5 minutes. Add beans, tomatoes and olives; mix well. Pour mixture into a casserole dish and set aside.

In a small saucepan, boil 1 1/2 cups water. In a small bowl, combine cornmeal and 1/2 cup water until dissolved. Add cornmeal mixture to boiling water; stir and cook until thickened. Pour on top of meat mixture. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
