SPICY APRICOT-GLAZED CHICKEN

1 cup apricot jam or peach preserves
1 tbsp cider vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 cup chopped green chilies (from 4.5 oz. can)
3 lb chicken pieces (up to 3 1/2 lb)

Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, mix all ingredients except chicken, breaking up large pieces of fruit. Reserve 1/3 cup preserves mixture.

When grill is heated, place chicken on grill over medium heat; cover grill. Cook 15 minutes. Turn chicken; brush with preserves mixture. Cover grill; cook 20-30 minutes longer, turning frequently and brushing with preserves mixture, until chicken is fork-tender and juices run clear. Serve chicken with reserved preserves mixture. Serves 6
