CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda and baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream sugar and shortening in a large bowl until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla extract; mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Spoon batter into greased muffin pan until three-fourths full. Bake at 375 for 10-13 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to wire rack.
