HAM CHOWDER

1 (8 oz) pkg diced ham
1 1/2 tbsp butter
1/2 lb. bacon
1 large onion, chopped
6 ribs celery, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups new potatoes (with skin on), cubed
2 cups sweet corn
1 cup cream-style corn
2 cups water
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 tbsp dry white wine
1 1/2 cups milk
4 tbsp flour
Salt & pepper

In large soup pot, saute bacon in butter in bottom of pot until bacon is browned. Add onion, celery, garlic, potatoes, ham, corn, 1 1/2 cups of the water and the milk. Bring to boil and simmer 30 minutes uncovered.

In a separate bowl, combine soup, wine, remaining 1/2 cup of water and the flour. Whisk mixture into chowder and simmer until thickened. Add salt & pepper to taste. Serves: 6
