TERIYAKI STEAK AND RED PEPPERS

2 (3/4 lbs) boneless beef sirloin strip (New York strip) steaks (1 inch thick), cut in half to make 4 steaks
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce, divided
1 tsp coarsely ground black peppercorns
2 red bell peppers, halved
1 tsp vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp water
Heat grill. Place steaks and 1/4 cup of the teriyaki sauce in shallow baking dish; turn to coat steaks. Let stand 10 minutes, turning steaks halfway through. Remove steaks from marinade; discard marinade.
Press peppercorns onto both sides of steaks. Place steaks and bell peppers, skin side down, grill 4 to 6 inch from medium-high coals; cover grill. Grill peppers 6 to 8 minutes or until blackened in spots. Grill steaks 8 to 12 minutes for medium-rare or until of desired doneness, turning once.
Meanwhile, heat oil in small saucepan over medium heat until hot. Add garlic; cook 1 minute. Add remaining 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce and water; simmer 2 minutes. Cut peppers into thin strips; place on top of steaks. Serve with teriyaki-garlic sauce. Serves 4
