CLASSIC LASAGNA

1 lb ground beef and Italian sausage
1 cup chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14 1/2 or 16 oz) cans whole peeled tomatoes
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 cup red wine
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp oregano, parsley and salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 (8 oz) pkg uncooked lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
2 cups ricotta cheese
3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Brown meat, onion and garlic; pour off excess fat. Add next 8 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
In a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking pan, layer 1/3rd noodles, ricotta cheese, parmesan and mozzarella cheese and meat sauce. Repeat layers in the order 2 times. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake, covered, at 350 for 45 minutes. Uncover, continue baking for 15 minutes or until top begins to brown. Remove from oven. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Serves 8
