NEW ORLEANS FRENCH TOAST

1 large loaf French bread
2 1/2 cups plain bread crumbs
8 tbsp cinnamon
10 eggs
4 cups milk
1/2 cup orange juice
4 tbsp or 2 tbsp rum extract
Powdered sugar
Oil and/or butter for frying
Slice bread into 1/2 thick slices. On a plate, combine bread crumbs and cinnamon. In a bowl, combine next 4 ingredients and beat until well blended. Take a few bread slices and soak in milk mixture for 5 minutes turning once. Take each slice and coat with bread mixture on all sides.
Heat frying pan and add oil/butter to fry bread slices. Cook until brown on both sides. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar on the bread and warm pecan or maple syrup.
