BRUNSWICK STEW

3 lb chicken, cut up
3 quarts water
1 large onion, sliced
1/2 lb cooked ham cut in small pieces or 1 hambone from a baked country ham
3 pints tomatoes
1 pint butterbeans
4 large potatoes, diced
1 pint corn
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp chopped parsley
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp sugar (optional)
1 tbsp poultry seasoning

In a large pan, put chicken, water, onion, and ham. Simmer for 2 hours. Add tomatoes, butterbeans, potatoes, corn, salt, pepper, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and poultry seasonings. Cover and simmer 2 more hours. Serve.
