SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

1 large fryer, cut into serving pieces
2 tbsp water
1 cup milk or cream
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 cups flour
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp paprika
1 cup shortening 1 tbsp butter
Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Set aside for 15 minutes. Mix water, cream and eggs; beat. Pour cream mixture over chicken and allow to soak for 1 hour.
Add paprika to flour, then roll chicken in flour. Fry chicken in a large skillet in hot shortening and fry on medium heat until golden brown on all sides and chicken is cooked through.
