PECAN PIE BARS

1 pkg yellow cake mix -- reserve 1/2 cup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter -- softened
1 1/2 cups corn syrup
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup pecans -- chopped
3 eggs
2/3 cup reserved cake mix

Grease 13x9 inch pan generously. Set side reserved 2/3 cup cake mix. In large bowl, mix butter, 1 egg and remaining cake mix until crumbly. Press into pan and bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes.

In large bowl, combine reserved cake mix and remaining ingredients, beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes. Pour over crust and sprinkle with nuts. Return to oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes until filling is set. Cool and cut into bars.
