DEVIL DOGS

2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder and baking soda
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling
1/3 cup evaporated milk
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Sift dry ingredients. Add shortening, egg, milk and extract. Mix well. Drop by tsp on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 for 5 minutes.

Filling: Mix ingredients. Beat on high speed of mixer for 5 minutes. Put 2 cookies together with a generous amount of filling.
