GRILLED SIRLOIN WITH SAUCE

GRILLED SIRLOIN WITH SAUCE
2 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/3 cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp sugar and dried basil, crushed
3 lb lean sirloin steak, cut 1 1/2 inch thick
4 oz sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup green onions, bias-cut 1/4 inch
1/4 cu sliced pitted ripe olives

In a saucepan, cook garlic in oil until tender. Remove from heat. Stir in next 5 ingredients. Set aside.

Slash fat on steak edges at 1 inch intervals. Place in a resealable bag and pour in marinade. Seal; refrigerate 6 hours or overnight, turning several times. Drain meat, reserving marinade. Pat meat with paper towels.

Prepare grill for medium coals and place steak on grill. Cook 10-14 minutes, brushing occasion with marinade. Turn and grill other side for 10-15 minutes for medium-well doneness. Brush with marinade thoroughly grilling. Remove from grill and allow to rest.

Meanwhile, combine reserved marinade, mushrooms, onions and olives in a small saucepan and simmer. Remove from heat Spoon sauce over meat.
