PUFF PASTRY APPLE STRUDEL

Category: Desserts

1/2 pkg frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed at room temperature
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp water
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp finely chopped pecans
1 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 large Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and thinly slices, about 3 cups
2 tbsp raisins

After puff pastry has thawed, preheat oven to 375. Mix water and egg; set aside. Mix sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add apples and raisins and toss to coat; set aside.

Unfold pastry on a lightly flour surface and roll into a 16x12 inch rectangle with short side facing you. Spoon apple mixture on bottom half of pastry within 1 inch of edges. Starting at short side, roll up jelly-roll fashion and place seam-side down on baking sheet. Tuck ends under to seal. Brush with egg mixture. Cut several 2 inch long slits about 2 inches apart on top. Bake about 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet on wire rack about 30 minutes before serving. Slice and serve warm. Sprinkle with confections sugar.
