1/2 cup chopped finely onions
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp cider vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Pepper to taste
1/2 cup ketchup
1/8 cup water
1 tbsp light corn syrup
2 lbs country-style pork ribs
In a medium saucepan, combine onions, salt, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, ketchup, water, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and simmer 15 minutes.
Place the ribs in a large pot and cover with water. Add 1 tbsp of salt. Cover, bring to a boil and simmer 45 minutes; drain. Dip meat in sauce and place on hot grill. Cook 15 minutes, basting with additional sauce, until the fat is very crispy. Can be prepared ahead; allow cooked ribs to marinate in sauce until ready to grill. Yield: about 1 cup sauce.
