SPICED NUTS AND CHEX MIX

1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp ground red pepper (cayenne)
1/4 cup butter
2 cups Corn Chex cereal
2 cups Rice Chex cereal
2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
1 (15 oz) can mixed nuts

Heat oven to 300. Mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper. In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in cereals and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.

If you want to make it in the microwave, you can do it as follows:
Mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper. In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in cereal and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 4 to 5 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on waxed paper to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
