Southwestern Shrimp Bisque

2 small onions, chopped
2 T olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 T flour
2 c water
1 c whipping cream
4 t chicken bouillon granules
2 T chili powder
1 t ground cumin
1 t ground coriander
1 lb uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 c sour cream or plain yogurt
Chopped fresh ciantro and sliced avocado for garnish

In small saucepan saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in flour until blended. Stir in water, cream, bouillon and seasonings; bring to boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 5 minutes

Cut shrimp into bite-size pieces if desired; add shrimp to soup. Simmer 5-10 minutes longer until shrimp turn pink. Place sour cream in small bowl; gradually stir in 1 cup hot soup. Return all to pan, stirring constantly. Heat through (do not boil).
