AMISH APPLESAUCE CAKE

1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup apple sauce
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt and baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon and allspice
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Add applesauce; mix well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Fold in nuts and raisins. Bake in a greased 9 inch square baking pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Frost with favorite vanilla or chocolate frosting.
