THREE CHEESE BAKED MASHED POTATOES

4 cups prepared instant mashed potatoes
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
4 slices American cheese
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 (3 oz) can bacon bits, reserving 1 tbsp for topping
1 finely chopped onion
Salt, garlic powder and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 cup dry bread crumbs
Pinch onion salt

Preheat oven to 350. Combine first 9 ingredients. Stir until cheese melts and pour into a buttered casserole dish. Combine melted butter, reserved bacon bits and remaining ingredients. Crumble mixture over potato mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until topping has browned. Serves 6
