HONEY DATE NUT BREAD

3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda and salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup honey
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
2 1/2 cups chopped dried dates tossed with 1 tbsp flour
2 cups chopped nuts

Sift together dry ingredients. In a large bowl, cream butter, honey, vanilla and eggs. Stir in dates and nuts. Add dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour into buttered and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Remove the breads from the pans and let cool, right sides up, on a rack. Makes 5 loaves.
