SEAFOOD ITALIANO

4 tbsp olive oil, divided
1 (6 1/2 oz) can clams, drained
1 medium onion, chopped
1/3 cup finely chopped carrot
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can plum tomatoes, undrained and cut up
2-3 tbsp tomato paste
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp salt
10 drops hot pepper sauce
8-10 oz pkg frozen cooked shrimp, thawed, drained and cut up
1 tbsp fresh chopped basil, divided
1/2 lb macaroni, cooked al dente, drained
Grated parmesan cheese
While pasta is cooking, in a skillet heat 3 tbsp oil. Add next 4 ingredients and cook until onions are tender. Stir in next 5 ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp and 1 tbsp basil; simmer 5 minutes.
Combine cooked macaroni, remaining oil and remaining basil; toss to coat. Place shrimp mixture in individual dishes. Mound macaroni mixture evenly on shrimp mixture. Top with grated cheese. Serves 4-6
