ITALIAN BEEF AND NOODLE CASSEROLE

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp butter
3 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp basil and Italian herb seasoning
2 tsp sugar
1 cup cottage cheese
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/3 cup green belle pepper, chopped
1 (l lb) pkg thin egg noodles, cooked al dente, drained
2 tbsp butter
1 cup grated parmesan or cheddar cheese
1/2 green bell pepper, cut into strips
1 medium tomato, peeled and sliced
Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan. Brown meat and garlic in 2 tbsp butter. Add next 8 ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequrntly.
In a bowl, blend cottage cheese and next 4 ingredients. After draining noodles, stir in 2 tbsp butter and season with salt and pepper. Layer 1/2 noodles, cheeses and remaining noodles. Cover with ground meat and top with grated cheese. Lay strip of green pepper and tomato slices on top. Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes or until bubbly. Serves 8
