BUTCHERS BBQ SAUCE

1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion and chopped garlic
4 cups tomato puree
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup packed brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup honey and ketchup
1/2 cup creamy horseradish sauce (not horseradish), tomato paste, balsamic vinegar and Dijon mustard
1/4 cup dark molasses, dried onion and granulated garlic
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp pepper
1 bay leaf

Saute onion and garlic in oil, about 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaf and let cool. NOTE: Can be stored, covered, in refrigerator up to 2 months.
