CAJUN SHRIMP PASTA

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 chopped onion
1/2 tsp thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper and basil
1 tbsp chopped garlic and Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce
2 cups tomato, peeled and diced
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
3 cups chicken broth
1 lb vermicelli or linguine
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Saute onion in olive oil for about 4 minutes. Add garlic and stir. Add seasonings and cook over low heat, about 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients except paste, shrimp and cheese. Cook over low heat about 30 minutes or until the liquid is reduced.
Saute the shrimp and garlic in some butter until about three-fourths cooked. Add to sauce and cook and additional 2 minutes. Add cook pasta and toss well with grated cheese. Serve hot. Serves 4
