SCHOOL FUEL I

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
6 tbsp butter
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1/4 tsp baking soda
4 cups corn and rice chex cereal
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper.
Microwave brown sugar, butter and corn syrup in a large microwavable bowl, uncovered, on high 1-2 minutes, stirring for 1 minute, until butter is melted. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Stir in cereals.
Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet. Cool 10 minutes; break into bite-size pieces. Microwave chocolate chips in a small bowl on high for 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring occasionally until smooth. Drizzle chocolate over snack. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Stir in an airtight container.
Variation: Can add 1 cup broken pretzels or 1/2 cup honey-roasted peanuts with cereal. Makes 8 cups.
