BLACK FOREST TRIFLE

1 pkg devils food cake mix
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 cup oil
3 eggs
1 small pkg chocolate instant pudding
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp almond extract
2 cups whipping cream
2 1/2 lbs cherry pie filling
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 oz semi-sweet chocolate, grated
Preheat oven to 350. Combine first 4 ingredients in a bow and mix thoroughly. Pour into a buttered 8 inch pan and bake according to pkg directions. Cool completely and cut into 1 inch squares.
Combine next three ingredients in a bowl. Beat at low speed and add 1 cup cream and beat about 2 minutes at medium speed until soft peaks form. Arrange half the cake cubes in the bottom of a 2 quart glass bowl. Spoon half the pie filling over cake. Top with half the pudding mixture. Repeat layers.
Using a chilled bowl and beaters, beat remaining cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Fold in grated chocolate. Gently spoon over top of trifle. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
