ALMOND SUGAR GLAZED COOKIES

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar and butter
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp orange juice
2 tsp almond extract
Glaze
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp water
Decorations
Sliced almonds
Sugar

In a large, combine all cookie ingredients. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed, about 2-3 minutes. Divide dough into thirds. Wrap in plastic food wrap; refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours. Heat oven to 400.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough, one third at a time, to 1/8 – 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on a lightly greased cookie sheets. Arrange almonds on cookies.

In a small bowl, stir together corn syrup and water. Lightly brush mixture over cookies. Bake 6-9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 1 minute; carefully remove from cookie sheets. While warm, brush with corn syrup mixture; sprinkle with sugar. Cool completely.
