CREOLE SMOKED SAUSAGE AND SHELLS

1 to 1 1/2 lbs smoked sausage
1 (28 oz) can Italian style tomatoes, drained, reserving 1/2 cup liquid
1 (3 oz) can tomato paste
1/2 medium green or red bell pepper, seeded
1/2 small onion
1 stalk celery
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp flour
3 cups shell macaroni, cooked al dente, drained
Hot pepper sauce, to taste

While pasta is cooking, heat sausage according to pkg directions and cut into serving pieces. Puree tomatoes, reserved liquid, vegetables, garlic, seasonings and flour. Transfer sauce mixture to a saucepan and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer several minutes. After draining pasta, combine with sauce and sausage. Add hot pepper sauce.
