HERBED ANGEL BISCUITS

1 pkg active dry yeast
2 tbsp warm water
2 1/2 cups flour
4 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp thyme leaves
1/4 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup oil
3/4 cup buttermilk

Heat oven to 400. Mix yeast and warm water; set aside. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, herbs, baking soda and salt. With fork, mix in oil until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in reserved yeast mixture and enough buttermilk to form a soft dough. (use extra if necessary). Shape dough into a ball; place on floured board. Roll out to 1 inch thickness and cut with a 2 inch floured cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
