BRIE AND APPLE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST

6 eggs
2 cups milk
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 long loaf French bread, sliced into 24 (1/2 inch) slices
1/2 golden delicious apple, thinly sliced
1 medium wedge brie cheese
1 whole nutmeg, to grate
3 tbsp fresh grated orange zest
Place 12 slices of bread in a 13x9 inch baking pan. Place 1 apple slices on each piece of bread in baking dish. Cut slices of brie, removing waxy outer coating and lace on top of each apple. Place remaining bread on top of the brie.
Mix together next 4 ingredients. Pour the egg mixture over all, turning to coat well on both sides. Allow bread to soak up the egg mixture. Cook on a lightly oiled, covered griddle. Place sandwiches inch brie side own, turning once after has begun to melt. Toast should grill to an even golden brown. Serve immediately topped with grated nutmeg and orange zest. NOTE: Also good served with fresh berries and maple syrup.
