MEATBALLS IN CHINESE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

Frozen cooked meatballs or favorite recipe, baked until browned
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tsp regular soy sauce
1/8 tsp garlic powder
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup white vinegar
1-1/4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
While meatballs are browning, make the sweet and sour sauce; in a small cup or bowl whisk the cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water until smooth.
In a medium saucepan combine the ketchup with soy sauce, garlic powder, water and both sugars, bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Slowly whisk in the cornstarch/water mixture and bring back to a simmer stirring. Cook until thickened. Add in the cooked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for about 30 minutes. Serve with cooked rice.
