STRAWBERRY PUDDING CAKE

1 white cake mix, prepared in a 9x13 pan, according to package directions
1 pkg vanilla instant pudding
1 cup cold milk
1 tub whipped topping
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Prepare cake according to directions. Let completely cool. Using a fork, poke holes about 1 inch apart in the top of the cake. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix vanilla pudding mix with cold milk. Immediately pour the pudding over top of the cake. Move quickly so the pudding doesn’t set but evenly so the liquid sinks into fork holes. Place cake in fridge so pudding can set, about 10 minutes.
In the meantime, thinly slice strawberries into bowl. Add sugar and vanilla extract. Let flavors develop until ready to use. After pudding has set, remove cake from fridge. Spread whipped topping evenly over the entire cake. Top with strawberries and their juices.
