CHOCOLATE COCONUT BARS I

Crust
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour

Topping
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans


Preheat oven to 350. Lightly greased a 13x9 inch baking pan. Prepare crust: Cream sugar and butter; beat in flour and pan into baking pan. Bake until golden, about 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool.

Meanwhile, beat first 4 filling ingredients until smooth. Add dry ingredients until combined. Fold in coconut and pecans. Spread evenly over crust and bake until topping firms and coconut browns, about 25 minutes. Cut into bars immediately and cool at room temperature to a wire rack.
