ALMOND-GLAZED OATMEAL COOKIES

3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups quick oats
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda and salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 1/2 cups slivered almonds, toasted at 350 for 5-7 minutes Reserve 1 cup for glaze and coarsely chopped remaining almonds
Glaze
1 cup confectioners sugar
3 tsp milk
1/2 tsp almond
1 cup reserved toasted slivered almonds
Preheat oven to 375. Grease baking sheets. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies. For cookies, cream together first 6 ingredients. Combine dry ingredients and mix into the creamed mixture just until blended. Stir in chopped almonds. Form dough into 1 1/4 inch balls and place 2 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely.
For glaze, combine ingredients. Add additional milk if needed for desired consistency. Spread glaze on cookies and dip cookies into sliced almonds.
