AMARETTO CAKE

Cake
1 yellow cake mix
1 (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
3/4 cup amaretto
1/2 cup water and oil
4 large eggs
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/3 cup slivered almonds; toasted
Glaze
1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
3 1/2 tbsp amaretto
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Place cake ingredients except almonds in a bowl and blend on low speed for 1 minute, scrap down sides of bowl and increase speed to medium and beat 2 more minutes; scrape the sides down again. The batter should look thick and smooth. Pour into prepare pan. Bake until golden brown, about 48-52 minutes.
Remove pan for oven and place on a wire rack to cool for 20 minutes. Run a long sharp knife around edge of cake and invert it into a rack and then again on a serving platter so it is right side up. Prepare glaze and spoon over top of warm cake; allowing it to drizzle down the sides. Scatter almonds over top to garnish. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
