PIZZA FONDUE

2 tbsp shortening
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 lb ground beef
2 (10 1/2 oz) cans pizza sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 1/2 tsp fennel seed and oregano
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Italian, French bread, or English muffins
Heat the shortening in a 2-quart fondue pot or heavy saucepan over high heat. Brown the onion and ground beef.
In a mixing bowl, blend the pizza sauce with the cornstarch and seasonings. Add to the fondue pot; stir well until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Add cheese by handfuls, stirring well after each addition until smooth. Serve with Italian or French bread cut in pieces, or over toasted English muffins for a luncheon treat.
