CHERRY NUT DELIGHTS

1/2 cup butter, room temperature
2 tbsp confectioners sugar
1 tbsp brandy or 1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp grated orange peel
1 cup sifted flour
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 cup finely chopped dried sewed dark cherries
Sifted confectioners sugar

Combine first 4 ingredients; creaming until fluffy. Stir in flour, pecans and cherries; mix well. Chill dough in refrigerator for 10 minutes. Form dough into balls, using 1 rounded tspful for each. Place balls 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until done. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Roll cookies in confectioners sugar while slightly warm.
