AMARETTO BAKED HAM

6-10 lb smoked ham
2 litre bottol rootbeer
1 cup amaretto liquor
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 (12 oz) bottle maraschino cherries
Pineapple juice reserved from canned pineapple
1/2 cup corn syrup
2 tbps corn starch
1 can sliced pineapples

Pour rootbeer, next 6 ingredients in a stockpot. Place ham in pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat, but leave it high enough to keep water boiling. Boil the ham in the liquid for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Remove ham from pot and place in a roasting pan.

Add cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 cup water to liquid, and simmer until liquid thickens. Pour the sauce over the ham and bake 30-40 minutes at 350. Remove ham from oven and garnish with cherries and pineapple slices. Baste with sauce and return to oven for 15 minutes. Slice ham and arrange slices on a platter, garnish with pineapple and cherries; spoon sauce over top.
